United Beyond Religion in Prayer for Peace
An interreligious prayer rally for peace and harmony in Korea was held on August 15 to mark the 81st anniversary of Korea’s liberation from colonial rule. The venue had been a hub of the democracy movement during an authoritarian government in the past. Leaders of major faiths lit candles and offered prayers for their country. Korea Religions Association Chairman Hong Yun-jong called on participants to open a peaceful future, and participants adopted an interreligious declaration for peace.
