“What Kind of Pure Water Will I Live As?” — Reflections from Participants in the First PWY Workshop

Text size

Pure Water Youth (PWY) 2026, a workshop for the next generation of Heavenly Japan, was held over six days and five nights from September 2 to 7. Some 180 young adults from Heavenly Japan made a pilgrimage to Cheon Won Gung and the Cheon Il Sanctum, offering their gratitude and love to True Parents, who opened a new era in which we live attending Heavenly Parent. In this interview, young participants share what they felt during the workshop, the moments that left the deepest impression, and the resolutions they made as it came to a close. — Editor’s Note

“With the awareness that I am Pure Water, I want to love more people.”
Hiroshi Ishikawa (Adachi Church)

As the Sunghwa Department director for Region 1, I had been thinking hard about the direction our Sunghwa community should take. I joined the workshop to offer jeongseong (devotions and service) for my wife, who is seven months pregnant, and for our unborn child.

During the workshop, I reflected deeply on the question, “What is Pure Water?” I came to realize that I, too, am Pure Water, and that I must love more people with true love. On the holy ground pilgrimage and at the Cheon Il Sanctum, I felt anew that the blessings we enjoy today originate from True Parents’ Holy Wedding and the course of their lives.

Above all, this workshop allowed me to come a little closer to True Parents’ heart. I repented for having stood by as a bystander, and I resolved that from now on I’ll live a life that comforts True Mother. Through a question-and-answer session with Missionary Moon Shin-chul, I also found an answer to my long-standing question about “spirituality.” I learned that jeongseong is not a matter of form or obligation, but prayer and action that well up from a sincere heart toward Heavenly Parent and True Parents.

When I return to Japan, I’ll help the Sunghwa-age young people of Region 1 come to the awareness that “I, too, am Pure Water.” Together with young people who love their neighbors more, I’ll help build a Region 1 that brings joy to True Mother.

“Having received unconditional love, I want to love those around me.”
Shiori Kawamura (Osaka Church)

I’m on parental leave, and at the encouragement of my husband, who had attended the 21-day and 40-day workshops, I left our two children behind to take part. More than anything, I wanted to change together with True Mother, who is here with us on earth.

For me, this workshop was like time spent “in Mother’s womb.” Simply experiencing what it is to fully receive love that flows to us unconditionally was itself a great change. As I looked at the mural in Cheon Won Gung showing True Mother standing alone after True Father’s Seonghwa, I could understand, if only a little, the heavy responsibility she has carried and her heart.

My heart was filled to overflowing with True Parents’ love, which never ceased even in the midst of busy days of raising children. From now on, I want to live sharing the love I’ve received with my family, my brothers and sisters, and beyond them with my neighbors and relatives.

“I want to be Pure Water that holds to Heaven’s Will and shares the love I received.”
Fumi Uenishi (Hachioji Church)

I took part because I wanted to become one with True Parents, make Heaven’s truth known, and, grounded in my original mind, come to understand the Will that God desires.

What stayed with me most deeply was the message that holding on to Heaven’s heart and hopes matters more than our real-life circumstances. In particular, I came to a new understanding of what it means to live attending Heavenly Parent, who dwells within my heart. From now on, rather than being bound by my personal situation, I’ll seek through prayer what Heavenly Parent desires and put it into practice.

I won’t keep the immense love I received during the workshop to myself. I’ll become Pure Water that confidently testifies to second- and third-generation members who haven’t found their identity and to those who don’t know True Parents. Whatever difficulties come, I’ll keep growing as I share this love far and wide.

Though the workshop was short, what each participant took to heart was different. One thought again about the responsibility that comes with being Pure Water; another spoke of wanting to share the love received with family and those nearby. Still another came away wanting to know Heaven’s Will more deeply and to live by it. We hope that what they felt at PWY will long remain with them, wherever each of them stands.
