Beyond 60 Years of Dialogue and Cooperation, Toward 100 Years of Action and Public Service
The 60th anniversary ceremony of the Korea Religions Association (KRA) was held on December 19 (Cheon Il Guk Year 13 HC 10.30) at the Korea Press Center. The event was attended by approximately 100 leaders from various religious denominations, who shared messages of peace and reaffirmed the vital importance of interreligious cooperation. In his keynote address, KRA President Hong Yun-jong emphasized that the Association will advance as an “action-oriented interreligious body,” committed to taking the lead in addressing pressing public and social issues. Following the ceremony, an academic symposium was held under the theme “The Social Role and Responsibility of Religion.” Participants reflected on the spirit of religious harmony and pledged to take the lead in achieving world peace. The Korea Religions Association was established in 1965 as South Korea’s first pan-religious consultative body, initially comprising six major denominations, including Buddhism, Catholicism, and Protestantism. For the past 60 years, it has served as a central channel for dialogue and unity among the various faiths in Korea.
