A Wave of Pink in Gapyeong

As October turns landscapes across Korea pink, Gapyeong Begonia Bird Park in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province, has opened its “Pink Garden” and is offering a variety of events for visitors. The park is home to a rare sight in Gapyeong: a field of pink muhly grass.

Now in its second year, the Pink Garden was created so that visitors to Gapyeong Begonia Bird Park can enjoy a range of activities and relax amid the deepening autumn scenery of pink muhly, kochia, and more.

This year, a special discount promotion is being offered to celebrate the opening of the Pink Garden. Admission is 13,000 won for adults and 10,500 won for children, and families of three can save up to 12,000 won.

Every weekend from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., visitors can also enjoy traditional outdoor games such as jegichagi (Korean shuttlecock kicking) and tuho (an arrow-throwing game). A “Floor Drawing” event, where visitors can draw freely on the ground with outdoor chalk, is also being held and has proven very popular.

A tourist who visited the garden last weekend called it “by far the best attraction in Gapyeong,” adding, “The parrots, penguins, and begonia flowers I saw in the indoor botanical garden and zoo were impressive, but above all, the pink muhly blanketing the grounds was the highlight of the trip.”

The Pink Garden event began on October 1 and runs through October 31.

Gapyeong Begonia Bird Park is a healing park where flowers, birds, and gardens come together. With fragrant flowers and birdsong to enjoy in every season, it is drawing attention as one of the leading wellness and tourist destinations near Seoul.
